Nicholas Brown and Worick Arcangelo, known as the "Handymen" of Ergastalum, are mercenaries for hire who take on assignments that no one else can. The Handymen, who are hired by strong mafia syndicates as well as police, must be ready for everything. After executing the order to eliminate a local pimp, the Handymen join Alex Benedetto—a prostitute also targeted for elimination—among their ranks to shield her from forces that want her gone from the decaying hellhole she has come to call home. However, this criminal haven is experiencing tremendous upheaval, which threatens to erode the delicate balance of power. Ergastalum was formerly a home for "Twilights," super-human creatures born as a result of a genetic mutation.
